A recent survey conducted by OKX in partnership with Pollfish reveals overwhelming demand for cryptocurrency and blockchain education in colleges, with 90% of students and 87% of parents supporting the inclusion of these topics in university curricula.
However, the supply side tells a different story. Only 28% of accredited U.S. business schools currently offer blockchain-specific courses, according to a 2025 academic review of 533 U.S. universities published in the ISEDJ journal.
The survey also found that 27% of respondents believe crypto courses should be required, while 32% support them as electives – reflecting a strong awareness of the growing importance of these technologies in the future job market.
Analysts point out that demand for these skills is nearly three times greater than the available formal coursework, putting universities under pressure to modernize their curricula, especially as traditional and decentralized finance continue to converge.
These findings come at a time of rapid crypto market expansion, making academic education a critical pillar for preparing a new generation of innovators and professionals in the digital asset space.
