Nina Rong, Executive Director of Growth at BNB Chain, has stated that lowering blockchain gas fees is no longer the highest priority for the industry, emphasizing that finding sustainable business models is the real challenge networks must focus on.
In a post on X, Rong wrote: "Zooming out on the debate of 'what's best for Robinhood', I really want to point out further lowering gas fee is no longer the highest priority of the blockchain industry. The real priority of all blockchains today is finding sustainable business model that feeds back into its tech and growth."
She added that business models could be based on gas fees, revenue sharing, or other commercial agreements. She noted that over the past five years, blockchain foundations have been primarily known for:
-
Giving grants and investments.
-
Lowering gas fees.
She stressed that to sustain this for another five years, blockchain companies must establish solid commercial structures.
Her remarks come amid intense competition among networks to cut costs and attract users, but Rong believes financial sustainability is the foundation for long-term growth and development.
