The Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed that American forces have begun enforcing a naval blockade on Iranian ports, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions.
According to the statement, the blockade has been in effect since Monday and applies to all vessels, regardless of their flag, attempting to access Iranian ports. Officials emphasized that the operation targets ports specifically and does not extend to the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. forces, including more than 10,000 personnel, are currently deployed in the region, operating in what was described as a highly congested maritime environment. Military leadership stated that forces are fully prepared to resume combat operations if necessary.
Authorities also warned that any vessel attempting to breach the blockade could be intercepted, boarded, and seized. Early indications suggest the operation is already impacting maritime activity, with at least 13 vessels reportedly altering course since enforcement began.
