Bhutan transferred 90 BTC worth approximately $7 million to a SegWit address, according to blockchain tracking data from Arkham.
The latest transaction adds to a series of Bitcoin movements made by the Royal Government of Bhutan throughout 2026. Data shows Bhutan has already transferred nearly $237 million worth of BTC to SegWit addresses this year while still maintaining around $233 million in Bitcoin holdings.
Bhutan has quietly emerged as one of the largest sovereign Bitcoin holders globally through its state-backed mining operations managed by Druk Holdings.
Unlike many governments that acquire Bitcoin through seizures, Bhutan’s reserves are believed to originate primarily from domestic hydro-powered Bitcoin mining initiatives.
The country’s growing crypto exposure continues attracting attention across financial markets as sovereign interest in digital assets expands worldwide.
