أكد رئيس هيئة الأركان الأمريكية المشتركة أن القوات الأمريكية بدأت تنفيذ حصار بحري على موانئ إيران، في خطوة تمثل تصعيدًا كبيرًا في التوترات الإقليمية.

وأوضح أن الحصار دخل حيز التنفيذ منذ يوم الاثنين، ويشمل جميع السفن بغض النظر عن العلم الذي ترفعه، طالما تحاول الوصول إلى الموانئ الإيرانية، مع التأكيد على أن الحصار يقتصر على الموانئ ولا يشمل مضيق هرمز.

وأشار إلى أن أكثر من 10 آلاف جندي وبحار يشاركون في العملية، التي تُنفذ في بيئة بحرية مزدحمة، مؤكدًا أن القوات الأمريكية لا تزال جاهزة لاستئناف العمليات القتالية في أي وقت إذا تطلب الأمر.

كما حذرت القيادة العسكرية من أن أي سفينة تحاول خرق الحصار قد يتم اعتراضها والصعود على متنها والاستيلاء عليها. وتُظهر المؤشرات الأولية تأثير الحصار بالفعل، حيث قامت 13 سفينة على الأقل بتغيير مسارها منذ بدء التنفيذ.

وأكدت الولايات المتحدة أن المدمرات المنتشرة في المنطقة مجهزة بأسلحة وصواريخ متقدمة، ما يعكس مستوى الاستعداد العالي لاحتمالات التصعيد.
